The letters in this collection have been re-catalogued to record the basic contents. In the case of family letters, the catalogue does not describe information relating purely to family business, but describes any other topics or people of interest who are mentioned. The collection has been catalogued in the same order as it was originally bundle listed, therefore the letters are not neccesarily in chronological order. Where a letter could not be accurately dated, watermarks have been examined to give an approximate date. This work is ongoing as of 2011 and items will only appear in the on-line catalogue when they have been given a description.
Persons of interest who are metioned in the letters include Lord and Lady Arundel, Sir John Kennaway of Escot and his family; the Head family, who may or may not be connected with Sir Francis Bond Head who was Governor of Upper Canada, 1836-1838; the Elliots of Egland in Awliscombe.
